Dr Kate Pitt
Veterinarian
Dr Kate is our experienced Veterinarian with the special interest in dentistry. Kate graduated from the University of Queensland in 2006 with a Bachelor in Applied Science (Vet Tech), and then a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons) in 2011. Her love for anything teeth related makes her a unicorn in the vet world, and that is why she decided what’s another few years of studying after so many.
In 2018, Kate gained Membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the field of Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery. She has been at Bonton Ave Vets since 2015.
Kate’s two Border Collies (Fysher & Hunta) and German Shepherd (Eccles) that keep her constantly on the go. She loves travelling and getting lost around the world.
Dr Emily Mabbott
Veterinarian
Dr. Emily is our experienced Veterinarian. Emily always knew she wanted to be a Vet while she was growing up and she qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2005. By then she had had enough of the infamous British weather, and she moved to Hong Kong, where she worked at both a busy small animal hospital and the Jockey club for a few years. After a rather prolonged holiday travelling Australia, Emily decided she liked it so much that she is still here! She initially worked in a busy equine and small animal practice in the Western suburbs before moving to the Northside of Brisbane.
Emily enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a bit of a soft spot for our geriatric patients. When Emily is not at work, she is busy at home with her two young boys and rather naughty, American Staffy, Nitro.
Dr Yew-Li Fang
Veterinarian
Dr Yew-Li graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours IIA), and she worked in a mixed practice in Central Queensland for several years.
She returned to SE Qld in 2000 to focus on small animal practice, working at several practices located in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Moreton Bay.
Yew-Li enjoys working in a veterinary general practice, especially helping clients to achieve the best outcomes for their pets’ health and to further strengthen the extraordinary bond between people and their pets. She has interests in animal behaviour, preventive health care and nutrition, as well as caring for Australian native wildlife.
Outside of work, Yew-Li is an avid reader, a keen gardener, and the owner of a mischievous Kelpie.
Dr Miranda Evans BVSc. (Hons)
Dr Miranda is our most recent addition to the team of experienced Vets at Bonton Avenue.
She graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) in 2021.
Dr Miranda always had a keen interest in animals, and she has a passion for helping both people and their beloved pets. Because of this, becoming a vet was an easy choice. Dr Miranda is a strong advocate for preventative health and helping pets and their people live fulfilling lives together.
When she is not at work, she can be found exploring various national parks or playing with her cheeky Belgian Shepherd
Dr Julia Chou BVSc. (Hons)
Veterinarian
Dr Julia was born in Taiwan and moved to Australia for her high school studies. She has always been passionate about animals and aspired to become a veterinarian since she was 7 years old. After completing her Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 2015 at the University of Queensland, she has since worked as a general practice small animal Veterinarian in the Moreton Bay Region, where she lives with her fiancé, son, and cheeky cats Calamari and Chips.
She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery with a special interest in soft tissue surgery. Julia is also able to offer acupuncture as a complimentary medicine and finds it enormously rewarding to watch patients relax and feel more comfortable.
Jana
Practice Manager
Jana is our Practice Manager. She is a qualified Veterinary Technician, but she also holds a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, Diploma in Agriculture and Animal Science and Diploma in Economics and Finance.
Before joining Cartmill’s (Bonton Ave Vet) she worked in multiple Vet surgeries in Europe and Sandown Veterinary Clinic in Melbourne.
Jana joined Bonton Avenue Veterinary Surgery in 2001 and has been here for over 20 years!
She is a proud Deception Bay resident. Jana loves D-Bay waterfront and loves seeing clients and local resident at the waterfront on the evening walks, or simply having a chat at the local shopping centre. Jana looks after all Vets and nurses, organises daily life and ensures everything runs smoothly.

Suzanne
Veterinary Nurse
Suzanne is our experienced and fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. She has been working at Bonton Avenue Veterinary Surgery since 2007. Suzanne completed her certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing with Animal Industries Resource Centre. Suzanne loves all aspects of nursing but has developed a special interest in emergency & critical care and surgery. She has gained invaluable experience in emergency nursing working at an afterhours clinic on weekends. Outside of work Suzanne enjoys spending her time with her husband, son and their dog Benji and cat Leo.
Jen
Veterinary Nurse
Jen is our full-time, experienced, and qualified Veterinary Nurse. Originally from Colombia, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Science from the University of Tasmania. In 2016, she decided to change careers and enrolled in a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and became a qualified Veterinary Nurse. Jen has been working as a Vet Nurse since then. She also works as Medicine and Intensive Care Nurse at Pet Emergency.
Jen loves camping, travelling, and cooking (that’s where we get all yummy cakes from).
She has 4 fur kids: Santiago, Julio Fernando, Jasmin and Chirpy.
Brooke
Veterinary Nurse
Brooke is new to our team in 2023 as an experienced and fully qualified Veterinary Nurse.
Completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2017, Brooke has gone on to complete further studies in dentistry, radiography, behaviour, nutrition, customer service and is a certified fear free technician.
Brooke enjoys all areas of Veterinary Nursing, but has a keen interest in client education and providing a stress and fear free environment for our patients and clients.
When not at work, you can often find Brooke spending time with her animals- which include her dogs Bentley, Kiki & Zara, her cat Molly, three goats Charlie, Milo & Chiko, as well as her chickens and ducks.
Sarah
Sarah is our new qualified and experienced Veterinary Nurse from Sydney. Sarah started her vet nursing career at a small humble family-owned practice in the NSW Blue Mountains before working for a bigger practice with a larger case load so she could broaden her experience. She has also worked with a Greyhound rehoming organisation (Greyhounds are her weakness) working on rehabilitating them for their lives as pets after race life.
After having her son, she convinced her husband that they needed to move to QLD for a better lifestyle. Working at Bonton Ave Vet is her debut role as a QLD Vet Nurse. Sarah’s passions at work are caring for the golden oldies during their visits and making sure they are as comfortable and stress free as possible along with ensuring good welfare of all patients.
Her hobbies include beach days, camping, reading, cooking, making her son Maverick laugh and envying her cat Temperance as she lazes her days away on Sarah’s bed.
Ana
Receptionist
Ana is our ever-smiling receptionist, and she works every Saturday, so the rest of the team can have the weekend off. She is 17 years old and has been working with us for a couple of years.
Ana has worked at McDonalds for two years and is used to being busy. She is in grade 12 and during the school holidays, she comes to help when we are busy.
Ana has two cats, but she also loves puppy cuddles. If you are coming in with the puppies, please look for Ana 😊
Tyla
Veterinary Nurse
Tyla came to the clinic as a student over a year ago and just hasn’t left. During this time she completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Tyla has always been interested in animal behaviour so she pursued a career where she gets to spend a lot of time with our 4 legged patients. On the weekend, you’ll often find Tyla hanging out with her friends and their pets. Tyla’s favourite breed is a Staffordshire terrier so if you have a Staffy don’t be shy and come say hello.
Lily
Veterinary Nurse
Lily did her work experience with us while she studied Veterinary Nursing and we wouldn’t let her go afterward! Last year she completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
Lily says that as long as she can remember, she has always loved helping people and animals, and being a Veterinary Nurse she gets to do both!
Lily is a proud fur parent of one cat; his name is George. He is a bit naughty which keeps her on her toes, but he is always a good source of entertainment after a long day. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, cooking, painting, and going on adventures. If you see Lily at reception, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and your pets, as she loves meeting new animals and chatting with our clients.
Holly
Veterinary Nurse
Holly has been with us for a year doing her work placement and she has recently finished her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Holly always wanted to do something that involved animals and helping them. Veterinary nursing has been her dream career ever since she was little. Finally, her dream came true and now she can put her passion of helping animals to everyday practice.
Holly has one dog; her name is Sapphire and a cat named Otis. She loves spending her spare time with them, reading a good book, at the beach or just hanging out with my friends and family.
